Club AGM and Dinner/Dance on Saturday 17th February 2007 at the Stratford on Avon Holiday Inn Hotel

The AGM will be held on Saturday 17th February 2007 at the Stratford on Avon Holiday Inn Hotel, starting at 4pm, for club members only. This will be followed by the dinner/dance at 7.30pm for 8pm, starting with a champagne reception. This year, we feel it is right to 'force' the lads to make a similar effort to the girls and is thus a black tie event. We appreciate that one or two members may be travelling without a DJ and they will of course be welcome in lounge suits (with ties!). We are delighted that Don Law is bringing the Roadrunner rock band.

Autosport International, 11 - 14 January 2007

Group C/GTP Racing had a fairly massive presence at Autosport International with no less than SIX Group C cars (a third of the whole display!) on the main feature, The British at Le Mans, which promoted BEN (the Motor and Allied Trades Benevolent Fund). Many thanks to Charlie Agg and Group C, Henry Pearman and Roger Heavens, Jim Graham and On-Time, Toyota and Jaguar and Daimler Heritage Trust for loaning and transporting the cars.

Two other Group C/GTP Racing member families helped with the Le Mans 'event' namely Andrew Smith's father, Esmond, who loaned their Lola T70 for the display and Penny Graham who loaned the Jaguar E2A, the 1960 Cunningham prototype D Type/E Type for the dinner display. Both activities helping the Club's good relationship with Haymarket.

The Group C/GTP Racing Stand
The Stand was managed by the new promotions company, ably assisted by the new race administrator, Ian Dawson, and a number of directors, who reported great interest in the 2007 racing season. Many thanks to Henry Pearman for the loan of the Nissan and Don Law for the loan of the Jaguar XJR10, both of which looked stunning.

Fortunately Jim Graham has a very close relationship with Haymarket Exhibitions and BEN and, in addition to promoting the presence of Group C cars on the Le Mans display, was able to arrange for some stars of the Group C period to 'perform' at the special Le Mans dinner on Saturday night. This dinner was also supported by Motorsport Magazine, Motors TV and Hilton Racing.

Indeed with some judicious co-operation with Haymarket we ended up with a huge Group C area of nearly 60 people promoting the cause! Many thanks to Thierry Boué for loaning his 1988 championship winning Spice which took pride of place at the dinner and thanks to Phil Stott for transporting it.

You will see many of the Group C stars in the photographs (link below) and this group included Ray Mallock, Hugh Chamberlain, Win Percy, Johnny Herbert, Mark Blundell, Andy Wallace, Derek Bell, Richard Lloyd, Gordon Spice, Graham Humphrys, Tony Southgate, David Brabham and Mike Wilds.

We are delighted to be exhibiting at Autosport International at the NEC from Thursday 11th to Sunday 14th January.

We look forward to welcoming you to STAND 2650 in the Historic Hall (Hall 20).

We have both the Castrol Jaguar XJR10 and the fabulous Nissan to inspire new racers to join us.

You will be able to meet the new race administrator, Ian Dawson, the directors and representatives from the new promotion company.

Please note that Thursday and Friday are TRADE DAYS, only open to motorsport trade visitors and MSA licence holders. These two days are the only ones when you can visit the fantastic Autosport Engineering show.
