There are several completely newcomers
joining the club this year and the following cars will be at the first event at
Spa in early May.

The first of the newcomers is a
pair of Mustangs from the USA, which will compete at Spa and at the other non
Le Mans events.
Richard &
Benton Bryan, based in Knoxville, Tennessee, are preparing a brace of their
Ford Mustang GTP cars for the season opening Group C/GTP Racing event at Spa
Francorchamps May 7/9.
The ex
Klaus Ludwig / Bobby Rahal car, powered by a 4 cylinder turbo motor and the V-8
powered sister car, will make their European debut at the Group C/GTP Racing
event. Both chassis have been campaigned extensively in the U.S. for the past
few years.
Asked about the cars
Benton Bryan said "We are excited about bringing these IMSA cars to Europe for
the first time. There are several teams from the U.S. coming this season, so
Spa should be a real barn burner! " |

The next very interesting
newcomer is the Bardon DB2 (Nee
Arundel C200 Group C Junior)
The
car was acquired in January 1993 as a 'box of bits' from Andrew Hepworth, by
Duncan McKay and Ian Fraser. Now rebuilt by Ian Fraser and will be raced in
Group C/GTP Racing events by Duncan McKay. The car is run by DAMAX Race
Engineering near Silverstone.

The third Newcomer is the
Intrepid from the USA
Brian
DeVries and Jade Pig Racing are bringing over an IMSA Intrepid GTP from the USA
to run across the 2004 season.
Brian was HSR Historic GTP/Group-C Champions in the USA in 2003 in
this car.
Chassis 003 was
finished on September 20, 1991. The Intrepid is known for its massive amount of
downforce, giving it amazing cornering speeds but hurts top speed. At Watkins
Glen International Raceway in 1991, the Intrepids were only able to achieve
speeds on the straights of 178 MPH while the Porsches were hitting in excess of
212 MPH. Despite this speed differentiation, the Intrepids were less than one
half second slower than the Porsches!
Intrepid GTP (IMSA GTP) Chassis Number: 003 (3rd of four cars built) Build Date: Sept 20, 1991 Designed by Bill Riley and built by Pratt &
Miller. Chassis: Carbon Fibre
Engine: 6.5 Litre Splayed Valve
Chevrolet, 750 HP Brakes: Carbon
Fibre Disc, 6-Pot AP Callipers Gearbox: Hewland VGC 5-Speed |
